When I woke up the next morning, the house was still a mess. Beer cans were everywhere. I had thought last nights experience was nothing but an alcohol induced dream. My mom and dad were mad at me for not cleaning up the house, but they covered for me because it was my birthday they said (suck ups). But either way I'm glad I didn't get in any trouble. Later on when I got home from school, my parents were out, so I decided to play the game again and I discovered that the game had autosaved.

"I really wished this was still a dream" I thought as I continued where I had left off in the room with the beetle creature.

Where the beetle's corpse should have been, there was a hole leading into the ground, I was aware the game didn't have any bottomless pits, so I said what the hell, and went down. I came to a light gasp when the game said I was now in Kraid's lair? The game's abnormality was reaching an extent where the areas in the game were being switched around, because in the original game, whenever you would enter a new area, Samus would have to use an elevator found in a metallic room... Anyway I ventured into the realm of "Kraid's" lair. Kraid's lair was definitely a strange place. In the original game, there would be a glitch where the colors of specific rooms would be changed. It wasn't a serious problem, but it was a strange sight to behold. I also noticed a wide abundancy of vines, and grass particles. The level seemed to be consumed by vegetation. As for the music, it was the first new track I've heard in the game, it seemed to be a jungle/Aztec area, having a strange cultural feel, but depending on what room I'd enter, the pitch, and tone would change to a synthetic ambient buzzing tone.

But level editing wasn't the only rule the game would break. I had also noticed the strange new variety of enemies, green and yellow worm like creatures with snapping jaws, and these blue, single-eyed bat creatures. The worms didn't willingly attack, they actually appeared to eat the plants growing in the area. While the bats were dangerous if provoked, they seemed to "prey" on the worms, they would also anchor themselves to walls, and platforms and glide from side to side. I thought about shooting the worms for health, but I thought against it and continued. It had also occurred to me that I had missiles. I have no idea how I had obtained them, but by the game's standards they would have been much more useful earlier.

So I was able to open a red door seen off to the right. Continuing through it, I found myself in a red circle-tiled room, with mesh wire platforms, and lava. In this room, I had encountered to new enemies, a strange flying creature with a boomerang shaped head, and a jumping insect, with small wings. They didn't have much health, so I used my standard beam against them. This room was quite large, and I eventually made it to the next hatch. The next next room had many platforms. I was about to jump up on one until one of those bats came out of nowhere, and snagged some health, I dealt with it quickly, and continued upwards. Just the very fact that I didn't have a visible health bar made me feel extremely uneasy, I was trying to avoid as many obstacles at a time. Despite it being just a game, I felt somewhat, "attached" to it.

"God I hope this isn't a hangover..."

I decided to stick around before entering the next room to gain some more missiles, I just about used all of them when opening the red door. For some reason, each new area I'd discover would seem to have a bit more content to offer. I finally reached the top of the room where I found an opened hatch, I went through to find a strange room with a pit of lava. All the platforms there made up a funnel shape, but I really didn't take the time to think about what that meant. Before jumping across the pit, I did take to the time to notice that the hatches on both ends of the room had turned gray, and would not open, which was odd because "locked" hatches weren't added until Super Metroid. I jumped to the other side of the room to hear a low grumbling sound, and I jumped back when I saw a large worm-like creature emerge from the lava below. It struck the ceiling as I narrowly evaded its jaws. And thus the fight with the "red worm" had began.

Once the creature had arose, the music changed to a fast paced, beating sound with an echoing organ sounding instrument in the background. The worm's weakness appeared to be its large green eyes off to the sides of its body. The worm would only come out of the lava if I jumped over the pit. But this was a risky

move because God knows what would happen if I slipped up. The worm did have multiple sprites, but they didn't seem to all "move" simultaneously. The worm also had the ability to spew balls of purple fire, but only if you chose to stay closer to the doors. The fight wasn't as difficult as the beetle, but I do admit that it can be difficult to properly aim at the worm's eyes. After killing the worm, its sprite sank down to the bottom of the screen, and the doors turned back to their standard color.

I went through the left hatch to find something strange... A statue of a four legged creature, surrounded by red candles, almost like a shrine of some sort. The music warped unto a deep heart beat sound when I had entered this room, the door didn't lock behind me, but I just sat there and watched the candles flicker, I was compelled to stare at the statue for some reason, I then realized that I couldn't move. I couldn't even move my fingers, and thumbs. I didn't try to scream, or struggle, I just sat there until I noticed that the statue's eyes began to glow, and... this happened...
